Install the Mac app

Loggerhead is one Mac app. It contains the window you work in and the engine that stores your telemetry. You do not install anything else.

Requirements

• macOS 14 or later.
• Apple silicon or Intel.
• About 200 MB of disk space for the app, plus the space your telemetry uses.

Steps

1. Download the disk image from the download page.
2. Open the disk image.
3. Drag Loggerhead to the Applications folder.
4. Open Loggerhead from Applications.

The first launch takes up to 20 seconds. The app shows what the engine does while it starts. When the Dashboard appears, the app is ready.

What the app starts

The app starts a local engine on your Mac. The engine listens for telemetry on a port on 127.0.0.1 and stores what it receives in a database file in your Library folder. Nothing listens on the network unless you turn that on in Settings.

Where the data lives

~/Library/Application Support/Loggerhead/loggerhead.db. Delete the file to start fresh. The app creates a new one on the next launch.
